Match the compressor's CFM at 90psi to the grinder's rated air consumption — and add 30-50% margin for sustained use. Typical air-grinder consumption: 100mm grinder ~4-6 CFM; 125mm grinder ~6-9 CFM; 180mm grinder ~10-15 CFM. For continuous use, the compressor should deliver at least 1.5x the grinder's rated CFM. For occasional use, matching the rated CFM may be sufficient. Under-sized compressors give grinder slow-down under load and accelerated air-tool wear from low-pressure operation.
