The KNIPEX StepCut® Cable Shears address both problems in a single compact tool. The patented stepped blade geometry cuts individual wire strands one after the other rather than all at once, reducing cutting effort by up to 40% compared with standard cable shears of equivalent length — a measurable advantage during repetitive cable preparation work. The 160 mm tool cuts without crushing, preserving conductor integrity throughout. The bolted joint construction ensures precise, effortless blade alignment over the long term. An integrated pinch guard prevents operators' fingers being caught during the cutting stroke, and the ergonomic handle design maintains a comfortable cutting feel across the full range of cable diameters the tool is rated for. Cutting capacity covers multi-core stranded copper and aluminium cables up to 15 mm diameter (50 mm²) and solid copper and aluminium cables up to 5 x 4 mm². AWG rating is 1/0. Cutting edges are additionally induction-hardened to approximately 56 HRC for extended service life. The tool is not suitable for steel wire or hard drawn copper conductors.
