The KNIPEX 74 21 250 High Leverage Diagonal Side Cutter delivers that capability through a construction approach that begins with chrome vanadium electric steel, oil hardened and tempered throughout for structural integrity. The cutting edges are separately induction hardened to 64HRC, a specification suited to piano wire and hard wire applications where standard cutting edges would rapidly deteriorate. The heads are smoothly ground, and the 12-degree head angle is a deliberate design feature that allows wire protruding from a flat surface to be cut cleanly — a practical advantage in confined or flush-cutting scenarios. In place of a conventional centre rivet, the tool uses a forged-on pivot. This construction method increases mechanical leverage, reducing the hand force required per cut and contributing to consistent performance over the tool's working life. Plastic coated handles provide grip and insulation from the steel body during use.
