Capacity decides a watering can and carrying distance decides a sprayer. A 9L can is about as much water as most people will carry comfortably, and going larger means more trips are avoided at the cost of each one being harder. The range here runs 1.5L, 5L and 9L in plastic with a 9L galvanised can. Spout length and rose fitting change how the water lands as much as the capacity changes how often it is refilled.
A sprayer applies a small volume evenly rather than a large volume quickly, which is a different job. Pressure sprayers at 1.8L, 2.5L, 6.25L and 10L are pumped by hand and carried; a 12L knapsack goes on the back so the hands are free and the load is spread.
Seal material matters more on a sprayer than it appears. EPDM seals resist a wider range of chemicals than standard seals, which is why EPDM pump sprayers and knapsacks are held separately rather than as a premium version of the same product. Sprayers are also held with a mini 1L sprayer alongside a 6.25L body for treating a small area without decanting.
