The Schumacher SPX459 6A 12V Battery Charger and Maintainer addresses this by combining active charging with an automatic maintenance mode: once charging is complete, the unit switches to maintenance mode automatically, keeping the battery fully charged and extending its service life. The charger is microprocessor controlled and compatible with a wide range of 12V lead acid and lithium battery chemistries, including AGM, Standard, Gel, Calcium, Start n' Stop, and Lithium (LiFePO4), supporting batteries up to 130Ah capacity. A trickle charge function and overcharge protection make it particularly well suited to winter storage applications. Built for workshop and field use, the unit features protective bumpers, a suspension hook for convenient positioning, and safeguards against reverse polarity, sparks, and overheating. It operates on a 230V AC 50Hz supply and delivers a maximum charging current of 6A at 12V DC. The output cable measures 1.95m in length, and the unit operates across a working temperature range of -20°C to +50°C. Two connection options are supplied in the box: a cable with clamps for direct terminal access and a cable with ring lugs for semi-permanent installation. The unit weighs 1.37kg and measures 163 x 136 x 218mm. Draper Tools is licensed to sell Schumacher products in the UK and Ireland only.
