The Draper 9948 sledge hammer is built for demanding construction and groundworks applications. The head is drop forged from hardened carbon steel, delivering the structural integrity required for heavy striking tasks. A matt black painted finish covers the head, while the striking faces are lacquered to preserve their condition during use. The shaft is crafted from straight-grained smooth natural hickory, a traditional choice for striking tools valued for its combination of strength, flexibility, and shock absorption. The consistent grain orientation ensures reliable performance and durability under repeated impact loads. With a head weight of 3.2kg, this sledge hammer is suited to tasks such as driving stakes, breaking masonry, and general construction groundwork. The combination of a drop forged carbon steel head and a quality hickory shaft makes this a dependable choice for professional workshop and site use.
