Trenching work demands tools built to endure repeated impact with compacted ground. The Draper Expert Contractors Trenching Shovel (10878) answers that demand with a solid forged blade, correctly hardened for strength, ensuring the head resists deformation under the sustained load of trench cutting and excavation. The blade measures 180 mm wide by 280 mm long and is finished with a powder coated surface that provides extra durability and corrosion protection, keeping the blade serviceable in wet or muddy conditions. The overall tool length is 980 mm, giving sufficient reach and leverage for controlled digging at trench depth. The shaft is crafted from ash wood — a timber long favoured in professional groundwork tools for its combination of strength and natural flex — and is fitted with a T-handle for firm two-handed grip and precise blade control. The timber is sourced from a sustainably managed forest, meeting the Draper Expert standard for responsible material sourcing. Supplied as a single unit, the Draper 10878 is part of the Draper Expert Contractors range, designed for professional and contractors' use where tool durability and consistent performance are non-negotiable.
This hardwearing trenching shovel has a solid forged blade, correctly hardened for strength. The powder coated finish provides extra durability and corrosion protection. Ash wood shaft with T-handle. Timber from a sustainable managed forest.
