Workshop coverage of the heavy commercial vehicle market requires a range of slogging caliper wrenches sized and profiled to match the various manufacturer specifications. The Govoni GO1316 is a slogging brake caliper wrench in M22 hex profile, designed specifically for MAN TGL light truck applications where this fastener size and profile is used on the brake caliper fixings.
Hex profile is the simpler of the slogging caliper wrench profiles in the Govoni range, providing six contact points with the fastener — well-suited to the M22 size where the higher contact-area requirement of bi-hex or Torx profiles is not needed.
The slogging design allows the operator to release stubborn caliper fasteners by striking the end of the wrench with a hammer, transmitting an impact pulse to the fastener head. This is significantly more effective on seized fasteners than the steady force applied by conventional tooling, which often shears the fastener before releasing it.
A 3/4 inch square drive on the wrench allows controlled torque clamping during refit, in accordance with vehicle manufacturer specifications. A laser-etched torque conversion formula compensates for the lever extension of the slogging design and must be applied to set the correct final torque at the fastener.
The tool's geometry eliminates the need to remove the steering control tie rod lever during caliper servicing — a workflow advantage that is particularly valuable on the many service events typical of commercial vehicle operation.
Application: MAN TGL light truck range. Length 219mm with M22 hex profile.
Govoni is a specialist Italian manufacturer of professional commercial vehicle tooling, and the GO1316 slogging wrench targets the MAN TGL fleet.
Additional Information
- Allows for the assembly/disassembly of the brake caliper fixing screws when working on the braking system.
- Used mainly on the front and rear axles of heavy vehicles.
- Even the most stubborn screws are released with the blow of a hammer on the end of the wrench.
- Warning: pay attention to the torque conversion formula marked on the wrench by means of a laser (necessary because of the lever's extension due to the type of construction).
- It is no longer necessary to remove the lever of the steering control tie rod.
