While Torx profile fasteners are widely used on European heavy commercial vehicles, some manufacturers and axle suppliers retain bi-hex (twelve-point) profile fasteners on their caliper fixings — and the right tool needs to match the right profile. The Govoni GO1314 is a slogging brake caliper wrench in M24 bi-hex profile, designed for the assembly and disassembly of brake caliper fixing screws on the axles of specific heavy vehicles where this fastener profile is used.
The bi-hex profile differs from a standard hex socket in providing twelve contact points instead of six, allowing engagement at twelve different starting positions. This is particularly useful in restricted-access situations where the wrench can only be aligned to a limited range of angles before fouling on surrounding components.
The slogging design is the central feature: hammer blows on the end of the wrench transmit impact force to the fastener, releasing seized screws that conventional tools cannot break loose. The 3/4 inch square drive on the wrench allows controlled torque clamping during the refit, in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer's specifications, with a laser-etched conversion formula compensating for the lever extension of the slogging design.
The tool eliminates the need to remove the steering control tie rod lever, which conventional caliper tools typically require — a meaningful time saving across the working day.
Application: Mercedes-Benz Atego, Mercedes-Benz Actros, and SAF axles. Length 219mm with M24 bi-hex profile.
Govoni is a specialist Italian manufacturer of professional commercial vehicle tooling, and the GO1314 slogging wrench extends the brand's slogging caliper wrench range into bi-hex fastener applications.
Additional Information
- Allows for the assembly/disassembly of the brake caliper fixing screws when working on the braking system.
- Used mainly on the front and rear axles of heavy vehicles.
- Even the most stubborn screws are released with the blow of a hammer on the end of the wrench.
- Warning: pay attention to the torque conversion formula marked on the wrench by means of a laser (necessary because of the lever's extension due to the type of construction).
- It is no longer necessary to remove the lever of the steering control tie rod.
