A. A manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor measures the pressure inside the engine intake manifold and sends this data to the engine control unit. The ECU uses the signal to calculate the correct air-fuel mixture for injection and to optimise ignition timing. A faulty MAP sensor can cause poor idle, reduced performance, increased fuel consumption and elevated emissions.
