A. TIG torch consumable suitable for use with all SR-series and compatible TIG torches across the SIP, Sealey, Draper, Clarke and CROSARC TIG welding machine ranges.
A. Replace when cracked (even hairline cracks reduce protection), when heavily spattered, or when the torch body shows heat marks indicating the shroud has failed to protect it.
A. The shroud protects the torch body but does not directly affect cut quality. Maintaining an intact shroud extends torch body life and prevents heat damage to the torch components behind it.
A. Yes — always use the manufacturer-specified shroud on plasma cutting torches. Cutting without a shroud exposes the torch body to reflected plasma arc and dross, causing rapid damage.
A. Some ceramic shrouds are specifically designed for drag cutting (direct contact with the workpiece). Others are for standoff operation. Check the product specification to confirm the correct technique for the SIP 05007.
A. Ceramic shrouds withstand higher temperatures than metallic types and are less prone to spatter adhesion. Metallic shields are more impact-resistant but may become spatter-fouled more quickly. Most modern plasma torches use ceramic shrouds.
