Q 1. Which welding machines can I use these SIP 02692 electrodes with?

A. Compatible with: CROSARC CAP0253 and CAP0254 (and 5 more); Clarke MIG200 and 220A; SIP 05705 and 05732 (and 41 more); TIGREN TGN120MAT and TGN150MAT (and 2 more).

Q 2. What current should I set for 10x 2.00mm electrodes?

A. For 6013 electrodes at 10x 2.00mm diameter, a starting range of 65–110A is typical. Increase current for faster travel speed and deeper penetration; reduce for thin material or vertical/overhead positions. Polarity: DC positive (DCEP) for most applications.

Q 3. What's the advantage of 6013 electrodes over 7018?

A. 6013 electrodes (like the SIP 02692) are easier to use — they strike easily on both AC and DC, produce a light slag that lifts cleanly, and are forgiving in positional welding. 7018 electrodes require more skill, must be stored dry (in an oven), and need DC polarity, but give higher tensile strength — important for structural work. For most DIY and light fabrication, 6013 is the right choice.

Q 4. Do these electrodes work on an AC welder?

A. Yes — 6013 electrodes run on both AC and DC. They're one of the most versatile electrode types available, which makes them a good all-round choice for transformer (AC) machines as well as modern inverter (DC) welders. On DC, connect the electrode to positive (DCEP) for most applications.

Q 5. How many welds will I get from this pack?

A. The SIP 02692 comes in a pack of 10 of 10x 2.00mm electrodes. Each 10x 2.00mm electrode produces roughly 150–250mm of weld bead depending on settings and technique. For comparison work or small repairs, this pack gives you a useful working supply without committing to a larger quantity.

Q 6. Why are my electrodes sticking to the workpiece?

A. Electrode sticking (freezing) is almost always caused by current set too low. Increase your amperage in small steps. If the electrode is new and still sticks, check the earth clamp connection — a high-resistance earth forces the arc energy into the contact point. Also confirm the base metal is clean at the weld area.

Q 7. Can I use these on stainless steel or aluminium?

A. No — the SIP 02692 6013 electrode is formulated for mild steel and low-alloy steel. Stainless steel requires a 308L or 316L electrode. Aluminium cannot be ARC/MMA welded with standard electrodes — it requires TIG or MIG. See the stainless steel electrodes and hardfacing electrode ranges in the ARC Consumables section.

Q 8. How do I restart a partially used electrode?

A. Chip or snap off the slag at the tip of the electrode to expose fresh wire. Strike the arc on clean base metal or a piece of scrap, establish the arc, then move to your joint. With 6013 electrodes like the SIP 02692, restarts are reliable — one of the advantages of this electrode type.

Q 9. What size welding electrode or wire do I need for my machine?

A. Check your machine's specification for the accepted wire diameter range (typically 0.6mm-1.2mm for MIG) or electrode diameter range (typically 1.6mm-4.0mm for ARC/MMA). The machine's output amperage determines the maximum electrode size it can run — higher amperage machines handle thicker electrodes.

Q 10. Are the SIP 02692 electrodes right for my SIP ARC welder?

A. Compatible with: CROSARC CAP0253 and CAP0254 (and 5 more); Clarke MIG200 and 220A; SIP 05705 and 05732 (and 41 more); TIGREN TGN120MAT and TGN150MAT (and 2 more) Check that your machine's minimum output current can run 10x 2.00mm electrodes — the minimum recommended current for this diameter is 150A. Most SIP ARC inverters comfortably cover this range.
