A gas strut on its own will slowly creep closed; a locking tube keeps the panel propped open and safe. The Metrol SSMLT-10-250 is a stainless steel 316 safety locking tube for the NS-SS-V-10-250 gas strut, with a 28mm tube matched to its 250mm stroke and 550mm extended length. It slides over the strut and self-locks at full extension, holding everything open safely until you release it, so no extra stay is needed in the assembly. One tube is fitted to each strut, and it can be retrofitted to a strut already in service. Typical uses are panels held open for loading, cleaning or maintenance, where an unsupported lid could fall. Fitted to the NS-SS-V-10-250, it locks without tools and releases by hand, turning a plain strut into a dependable open-and-hold that protects whoever is working underneath and keeps the panel clear of them. Within the range, sizes for adjacent strokes are SSMLT-10-200 and SSMLT-10-300; to protect rather than lock the same strut, use the MPT-10-250 protection tube; a steel version is available as MLT-10-250. It turns a standard strut into a self-supporting, lockable one without a separate mechanism.
