A gas strut on its own will slowly creep closed; a locking tube keeps the panel propped open and safe. The Metrol MLT-14-100 is a steel safety locking tube for the NS-V-14-100 gas strut, with a 32mm tube matched to its 100mm stroke and 280mm extended length. It slides over the strut and self-locks at full extension, holding everything open safely until you release it, so no extra stay is needed in the assembly. One tube is fitted to each strut, and it can be retrofitted to a strut already in service. Typical uses are panels held open for loading, cleaning or maintenance, where an unsupported lid could fall. Fitted to the NS-V-14-100, it locks without tools and releases by hand, turning a plain strut into a dependable open-and-hold that protects whoever is working underneath and keeps the panel clear of them. Within the range, sizes for adjacent strokes are MLT-14-150; to protect rather than lock the same strut, use the MPT-14-100 protection tube; a 316 stainless version is available as SSMLT-14-100. It turns a standard strut into a self-supporting, lockable one without a separate mechanism.
