A. Compatible with: 05771. Compatible with the specified TIG welding machines only — confirm torch connector type matches your machine socket. Confirm the torch connector type and pin count match your machine socket.
A. The SIP 05016 is rated at 200A (air-cooled). Running above this level overheats the gas seal and collet assembly. For sustained high-amperage TIG work, consider a water-cooled torch.
A. The SIP 05016 is air-cooled. Air-cooled torches are lighter, simpler, and more portable. Water-cooled torches offer higher sustained current ratings and a slimmer torch body for better visibility at the weld joint.
A. The SIP 05016 uses SR26-series consumables — collets, collet bodies, ceramic cups, and back caps in the appropriate sizes for your tungsten diameter. The full range is in the TIG Welding Consumables section.
A. Keep the tungsten above the weld pool and away from filler rod. Allow 5–10 seconds of Argon post-flow after extinguishing the arc — tungsten oxidises above 200°C. Re-grind at the first sign of contamination (dark discolouration, arc wandering).
A. TIG welding requires pure Argon shielding gas — not CO2 or Argon/CO2 mix. Pure Argon provides the stable arc and clean weld pool needed for TIG. Set the flow rate to 6–12 L/min depending on material and cup size.
A. Ceramic cup size is chosen based on tungsten diameter, gas coverage needed, and access to the joint. Larger cups provide better gas coverage for critical alloys (titanium, stainless). Smaller cups improve visibility and access in tight joints.
A. Clean the collet and collet body regularly — contamination causes arc instability. Replace ceramic cups when cracked (even hairline cracks cause gas turbulence). Replace the back cap if gas tightness is compromised. Inspect the torch lead for damage.
A. At minimum you need a welding helmet or headshield (auto-darkening recommended), leather welding gauntlets, a fire-resistant apron or jacket, and steel-toe boots. For enclosed spaces, a fume extractor or respirator is essential. A welding curtain or screen protects bystanders from UV flash. Keep a fire extinguisher accessible.
