The Draper 54488 Vertical Drill Stand addresses this by converting a hand-held electric drill into a controlled, column-guided drilling station, delivering repeatable accuracy without the footprint of a dedicated pillar drill. The stand accepts drills with collar diameters of 43mm and, with the supplied reducing bush, 38mm, making it compatible with Draper power drills 83583, 83584, and 83585 as well as other drills conforming to those collar sizes. The solid column bar provides rigidity throughout the drilling stroke, while the sturdy base plate incorporates slots for securing a machine vice, holding workpieces firmly during operation. A depth adjustment scale and stop allow the operator to set and replicate drilling depths consistently across multiple workpieces, eliminating manual measurement between operations. The column stands 540mm tall with a 24mm diameter, and the feed stroke delivers up to 65mm of depth of cut. The base plate measures 170 x 250mm, offering a stable footprint on the bench surface. With a working weight of 6.9kg, the stand is substantial enough to remain stable under load whilst still being portable between workstations. It is supplied in a display carton and includes the 38mm reducing bush as standard.
