For workshops standardising on one clip brand across the fleet, batch consistency matters as much as the clip itself.
This is the 30-40mm size of the Hi-Grip worm drive range. Where cheaper clips cut their threads and leave sharp band edges, JCS rolls the screw threads for strength and fully rounds the band edges so the hose is protected as the clip bites. JCS publishes a recommended torque of 5.0 Nm (45 lb-in) for this size - seat the clip centrally on the barb and work up to it gradually. Hi-Grip exceeds BS5315 and holds BSI Kitemark and NATO approvals.
Made from heavily electro zinc plated and passivated mild steel, tested to EN9227, it suits general purpose work in non-corrosive environments. The 10-clip bulk format suits maintenance teams and assemblers fitting the same size daily. Measure the fitted outside diameter of the hose, seat the clip centrally on the barb, and recheck after sustained vibration.
Also available - the same clip as a retail carton (HGZ40RP); the same clip as a 5-pack (HGZ40PM1); the 25-35mm size (HGZ35BP); the 35-45mm size (HGZ45BP).
The larger adjustment range per size means one JCS clip covers spans that would take two ordinary nut-and-bolt clamps.

A. This size spans 30-40mm of fitted hose outside diameter. Measure the hose over its fitting, not the bare bore - anywhere inside 30-40mm and the HGZ40BP is the right clip. One JCS size covers a span that would take two fixed nut-and-bolt clamps. In imperial terms that is roughly 1 3/16 to 1 9/16 in, covering common 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 in hose sizes.
A. JCS recommends 5.0 Nm (45 lb-in) for this size. Position the clip centrally over the hose barb and tighten incrementally to that torque - over-tightening can damage the hose.
A. JCS electro zinc plates and passivates the mild steel band after it is cut to size, so even the cut edges carry coating - and the finish is tested to EN9227. That suits dry and general duty; once salt or standing moisture is involved, the stainless range is the correct specification.
A. JCS advises against zinc plated clips in marine conditions, where they can corrode or seize. For boats and other saltwater environments use Hi-Grip Stainless, which is 18/8 marine-quality 304 stainless steel with Lloyd's Register Type Approval.
