A belt drive compressor is sized on air delivery first, not on tank size. Delivery is what the tools consume continuously and it is quoted in cfm on every listing here. Add up what the tools on the line actually draw, allow for more than one running, and the delivery figure follows from that rather than from the size of the machine. A machine sized on tank alone will keep up for a few minutes and then fall behind for the rest of the job.
