Welding without reliable eye and face protection is a serious risk and swapping between a grinding disc and a welding torch should not mean removing your helmet and starting again. The Sealey PWH601 auto darkening welding helmet combines a variable shade 9-13 lens with a built-in grinding function, so you can move between tasks without interruption. The lens switches fully automatically from light to dark on striking an arc, with an operating time of 0.1ms, while adjustable sensitivity and delay controls let you fine-tune the response to your working conditions. Shade is selected via a rotary knob on the side of the helmet. The inactive shade is 4, and the viewing area measures 100 x 41mm. Power comes from a solar panel supplemented by rechargeable lithium cell batteries. The contoured helmet is approved to BS EN 175 for full neck protection, with a comfortable headband and non-slip quick-release ratchet mechanism. The lens is manufactured and tested to BS EN 379 and DIN standards, and the helmet is suitable for MIG, TIG, arc/MMA, and gas welding. Operating temperature range is -10°C to +60°C.
