At the core of the system is a shock-absorbing nylon web strap housed within a protective plastic sleeve. Should the user fall this strap extends progressively to dissipate energy preventing the massive shock loading that could cause major injury. This single-use safety mechanism is fundamental to the product's protective function: once the web strap has performed its fall arrest role and broken out of its sleeve the lanyard cannot be used again and must be replaced. The lanyard is manufactured to EN354 (webbing) and EN362 (hooks) safety specifications providing assurance that it meets recognised European standards for personal fall protection equipment.
