The Draper 53171 is a microprocessor-controlled 12V battery charger that delivers a fully automatic smart charge, removing the risk of overcharging and allowing unattended operation across a range of charge rates. The unit offers selectable charge rates of 2A, 5A, 10A, 20A and 30A to suit everything from motorcycle batteries to large commercial vehicle batteries, and incorporates a 70A engine start function for vehicles with a deeply discharged or sluggish battery. A battery reconditioning (desulphation) mode helps recover batteries that have been left in a depleted state for an extended period, extending usable service life. Compatible battery types include Pb, GEL, AGM and MF chemistries. Operator control is handled through a mode selection panel with a clearly labelled charge button and a large LCD screen displaying easy-to-read icons. A built-in LED worklight aids use in low-light workshop conditions, whilst two USB ports — rated at 1.0A and 2.4A — allow simultaneous charging of mobile devices. The rugged housing incorporates on-board cord storage, a clamp holder, and polarity protection for added safety. Dimensions are 365 x 195 x 110mm and the unit weighs 2.8kg, making it compact enough for bench or mobile workshop use. Supplied as one unit.
