A bench press sits on a bench, which is both its advantage and its constraint. It takes no floor space and works at a comfortable height, and the bench underneath it has to take the reaction force rather than the press absorbing it. A press bolted to a light bench transmits the load into the bench rather than into the component.
Tonnage on the bench presses here runs 10 and 15 tonne, which covers bearing, bush and pin work on car and light commercial components. Anything requiring more than that moves to a floor press rather than a larger bench one. Component size rather than force is usually what pushes a workshop from a bench press to a floor one.
Frame type changes access rather than capacity. A bench type frame is closed on all sides, which is stiffer under load. A C-type frame is open on three sides, so a long component can be passed through rather than having to fit within the frame. Both frame types are held at the same tonnages so the access is chosen without changing capacity.
An arbor press is a different machine entirely, at 1 and 2 tonne, working by lever rather than hydraulics. That gives feel and speed on light work where a hydraulic press is slower to set up.
