The Draper 22498 Imperial Ratchet Pipe Threading Kit addresses both requirements through its compact ratchet head design, which is suited to working close to walls and other obstructions where a full-swing handle would be impractical. The kit is built around four cast iron die heads fitted with alloy steel dies. Each die head carries four chasers, which work together to produce a clean, accurate thread on each pass. Four waste holes in each die head allow rapid dispersion of swarf, keeping the thread path clear during operation. The two-piece tubular steel handle provides the leverage required for controlled threading, while the ratchet mechanism allows progressive cutting strokes without repositioning. This imperial set covers four BSPT sizes: 1/2", 3/4", 1", and 1-1/4", making it suitable for the pipe dimensions most commonly encountered in plumbing and gas pipework installations. All seven components — four die heads, the two-piece handle, and the ratchet head — are supplied packed in a blow-mould carrying case with a display sleeve for organised storage and transport.
