Timing chain work on Mercedes M271 petrol engines demands precision tools that match OEM specifications exactly. Without the right equipment, releasing the hydraulic chain tensioner safely or refitting the blanking plug correctly is not practical. The Sealey VSE4816 Petrol Engine Timing Tool Kit is purpose-built for Mercedes 1.6 and 1.8 M271 chain-drive engines, covering a wide range of C-Class, CLC, CLK, E-Class, SLK, and Sprinter models from 2002 onwards. The kit includes a timing chain tensioner wedge to safely release oil pressure from the hydraulic timing chain tensioner, a timing chain tensioner drift to refit the blanking plug back into the crankcase after tensioner removal, and a T100 star bit to remove the camshaft sprocket fixing bolts. This kit replaces OEM tools 271.589.014.000, 271.589.006.100, 271.589.003.100, and 271.589.001.50. Compatible engine codes include 271.910 and 271.911 (1.6) and a full range of 271.8xx series engines (1.8). Suitable for professional workshop use on Mercedes models including C160K (04-07), C180K (02-13), C200K (02-10), C250 (11-15), E200 (06-16), SLK200 (11-15), and Mercedes Sprinter (07-18), among others.
