Open frame generators on construction sites and in hire fleets must keep sensitive electronics running reliably despite vibration and variable loads — a task that demands cleaner power than a conventional generator can deliver. The Draper 98683 addresses this through pure sine wave inverter technology, which produces clean and stable output capable of safely running sensitive electrical and electronic equipment such as laptops, microwave ovens, induction hobs and televisions. Power comes from a forced air cooled, four stroke OHV 212cc petrol engine producing 6.5HP, enclosed within a heavy-duty steel tubular frame. Starting is via an easy pull recoil mechanism. The generator delivers a rated AC output of 3,800W (4.75kVA) with a maximum AC output of 4,000W (5.0kVA), alongside 5V DC output via two USB sockets. Two 230V 13A sockets and two 1.0A USB ports are provided. The 5.0-litre fuel tank supports continuous running of 5 hours at 100% load, making it well suited to commercial environments, construction sites and equipment hire operations. Oil and fuel resistant anti-vibration mounts reduce mechanical stress, and an integrated wheel kit provides ease of mobility across site. The unit measures 500 x 350 x 485mm and weighs 28.5kg. Oil capacity is 0.6L; the manufacturer specifies SAE 15W-40 oil (available separately). The generator is compatible with E5 and E10 fuel. Noise output is rated at 96dB(A). Supplied as standard with one spark plug spanner and four combination spanners.
