The SIP CHARGESTAR D40 Digital Battery Charger (03556) is a powerful, portable charger designed for charging all types of 12v and 24v lead acid batteries, making it ideal for battery charging applications in automotive and workshop environments, including commercial vehicle batteries.
At the heart of the CHARGESTAR D40 is an intelligent microprocessor that governs a fully automatic 8-step charging cycle, making battery charging easier, faster and safer. The unit is compatible with all 12v and 24v lead acid battery chemistries — WET, MF, EFB, GEL and AGM — and handles charging capacity of up to 550Ah at 12v and 300Ah at 24v. Charging current is selectable across four settings (2A, 10A, 20A and 40A) at 12v, and three settings (5A, 10A and 20A) at 24v. The Boost — Fast Charge mode delivers five minutes of continuous 40A charge when a rapid top-up is required.
Before beginning a charge, the unit automatically diagnoses battery condition and voltage. A battery low voltage detector prevents charging if voltage falls below 3v, where recovery would not be possible. Once capacity is full, charging ceases automatically and the control panel indicates completion. An Altn Check mode allows alternator health and performance to be assessed on 12v vehicles. Built-in safety features include an anti-spark system, reverse polarity and overcharge protection, and an overheat alarm that triggers automatic restart once the unit has cooled. Protection is rated to IP20. The LCD screen and intuitive soft-touch control panel are complemented by a lightweight design with carry handle. Input supply is 220v–240v, 50–60Hz, with a 750W maximum draw and 10A input fuse. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 40°C.
