The SIP 01459 8" x 2" Bench Grinder / Linisher is a dual-process metalwork machine designed for grinding, shaping and smoothing metal workpieces, and is equally suitable for sharpening workshop tools. Powered by a 230V supply and operating at 2980RPM, it is ideally suited to professional metalworking workshops requiring a versatile, fixed bench-mounted solution for ferrous metals including mild steel, tool steel, copper and brass.
At the heart of the machine is a powerful induction motor rated at S1 370W and S2 550W (10-minute cycle), delivering consistent high-speed performance. Quality bearings and machined shafts ensure reliable, long-life operation. The grinding station is equipped with a hard-wearing abrasive wheel (Ø200mm x 16mm x Ø20mm) that is straightforward to remove and replace, reducing workshop downtime. A fitted tool rest maintains the correct angle and position of the workpiece, while an eye shield, stone guard and spark arrestor provide enhanced user safety. The linisher station features a 710mm x 50mm aluminium oxide belt suited to ferrous metals and non-ferrous materials such as copper and brass, with a quick-release cover and internal pulley for fast belt changes. A work table deflector directs debris away from the work area, and a further tool rest supports precise workpiece positioning.
Additional features include an adjustable LED work light for improved precision and visibility, and an effective forced-air cooling system that draws air to the motor via base panel inlets to maximise sustained performance. The robust cast iron base with fixed rubber feet reduces vibration during operation, and four locking holes allow permanent workbench mounting. A water tray is included for cooling hot materials. The linisher can tilt to 45°, extending the range of shaping and finishing tasks the machine can perform.
