The WAI 18279N is a brand-new 12V 1.4kW permanent-magnet gear-reduction (PMGR) starter motor. It is engineered as a direct replacement for Hitachi original-equipment units including S114-473, S114-480, S114-480A, S114-480B, S114-850, S114-850A, S114-850B and S114-850C. Manufactured to Hitachi specification, it is designed to restore reliable cold-start performance on Vauxhall and Opel light vehicles across nine confirmed applications.
The PMGR design uses a permanent-magnet field in place of wound field coils, producing a high torque-to-weight ratio from a compact and lightweight housing. Clockwise rotation and a 9-tooth pinion match the original ring-gear engagement geometry precisely, so installation is straightforward and no adaptation is required. Being supplied brand new, it carries none of the fatigue or worn-contact risk associated with remanufactured units.
