Wheel diameter and motor power are read together on a bench grinder, because one without the other tells you nothing useful. A large wheel at low power stalls under pressure. A small wheel at high power runs out of surface before it runs out of torque. The range here is 150mm at 150W through 450W, and 200mm at 550W and 600W.
What sits on the second spindle is the decision that changes the machine most. A grinder with a stone on both ends is a grinding machine. Put a wire wheel on one end and it also cleans and de-rusts without a second tool taking up bench space. Sealey hold both arrangements at 150mm and 370W, and the choice is made on what the bench is short of rather than on the grinder itself. Combination machines go further. A grinder with a belt sander on one side covers shaping and finishing in one body, and forms with a pivoting work light, variable speed or wet and dry operation each solve a different bench problem. Belt linishers are a separate family on the same leaf, running 3in, 4in, 6in and 8in x 2in, and they work a continuous belt rather than a wheel, which suits long flat surfaces.
