A belt and a disc do different work on the same machine, which is why combination bodies dominate this leaf. The belt takes a long flat surface down evenly and can be worked along its length. The disc squares an end and works a small area fast, with the down-running side of the disc doing the cutting.
Belt and disc dimensions are the sizing figures. Belts here run from 12mm through to 1220mm and discs from 125mm to 305mm, with motors from 200W to 1500W behind them. A wide belt handles a wide workpiece in one pass; a narrow belt gets into a shape a wide one bridges. Dust extraction ports run 35 to 63.5mm on the machines that carry them, so a collector can be matched before the machine arrives.
Bench or floor standing is a decision about where the machine lives rather than what it does. A bench machine can be lifted onto a bench when needed and stored away. A floor standing machine is always ready and holds steadier under pressure, which matters on longer work.
Curved work needs a different machine entirely. An oscillating spindle or bobbin sander at 450W runs a drum that rises and falls as it turns, which spreads the wear and stops the abrasive burning a line into the work. A 100 x 1220mm linisher at 1500W covers metal, and a cordless 76mm belt sander suits work away from the bench. Questions go over WhatsApp on 07754288583. Sealey hold bench mounting bodies at 915 x 100mm with 150mm discs, with larger floor machines above them.
