Two common methods. For damp, marine, agricultural, and outdoor exposure, yes — plated steel corrodes within months in wet conditions, while A2 stainless lasts indefinitely under normal exposure and A4 stainless covers severe marine and chemical environments. For dry indoor use, plated steel is materially cheaper and adequate. For mixed-use fleets and outdoor equipment, the extra cost of A2/A4 stainless is normally justified by the maintenance saving.
