Two jobs share this leaf and they are opposite sides of the same problem. One is getting something back that has already been dropped. The other is stopping it being dropped at all, by keeping fasteners and tools held where they were put down.
Retrieval is a question of reach and route. A telescopic magnetic pick-up extends from 95mm to 465mm and pushes straight down a gap. A fully flexible pick-up at 610mm bends round an obstruction to reach something that is not directly below the opening. Both forms are magnetic rather than clawed, so what they retrieve has to be ferrous.
Holding fasteners is where trays and bowls earn their place. A magnetic bowl at 150mm keeps small parts from rolling off a bench. Parts trays at 136 x 237mm and 295 x 280mm hold a stripped assembly in order, and a three piece tray set covers several sizes at once. Trays and bowls also stop a part rolling into the very gap the pick-up tool was bought to reach into.
Holders and hooks then keep tools rather than fasteners to hand, and a magnetic wing cover at 800 x 400mm protects paintwork while holding what is being removed on the wing itself.
