The hexagon head is the general fastener of the whole trade, driven by spanner or socket from the side, and this deepest shelf of the fixings section, nearly 1,600 lines of it, is picked on the section's standing three numbers: thread, length and grade.

The high tensile setscrews carry the working core of the shelf, grade 8.8 zinc plated to DIN 933, threaded their full length so they clamp anywhere along their reach, running from M4 through the M8, M10 and M12 workshop centre to M16, M20 and M24 and beyond, each size in stepped lengths and sold in packs matched to their size, fifties for the small threads that jobs consume down to tens and twenty fives for the heavy ones a machine needs few of.
