Each splitter operates via a threaded splitting pin that is driven into the flat of the nut, fracturing it cleanly. The body of each tool is drop forged from steel and then hardened and tempered, with a plated finish that resists workshop wear. The splitting pin itself is manufactured from chrome molybdenum steel, hardened and tempered and finished with a chemically blackened surface for enhanced durability. The set covers a working range of 9 mm to 22 mm across three individual splitters: 9–12 mm, 12–16 mm, and 16–22 mm.
