Diesel engines are susceptible to compression loss through worn piston rings, damaged valves or degraded head gaskets — faults that are difficult to diagnose without accurate measurement. The Draper Expert Commercial Vehicle Diesel Compression Test Kit (SKU 35877) provides a complete 13-piece solution for testing compression across both direct and indirect fuel injection systems, making it suitable for a wide range of commercial diesel applications. At the heart of the kit is a 63mm diameter dual-reading pressure gauge calibrated from 0 to 1000psi and 0 to 70bar, protected by a heavy-duty rubber guard against workshop knocks. A 380mm flexible hose connects to the engine, with anti-kink coils fitted at both ends to maintain hose integrity and extend service life. The integrated Schrader one-way valve system retains pressure after each test cycle, and a spring-loaded pressure relief valve allows controlled release when readings are complete. The kit includes a threaded dummy glow plug, a right-angled hose adaptor, clamping brackets, three additional dummy glow plugs, five adaptor sleeves, and assorted sealing washers — providing the range of connections needed to service different cylinder head configurations across commercial vehicle fleets. All components are supplied in a plastic storage case to keep adaptors and seals organised between jobs.
