Product Number: CSS-080
The CSS-080 is a crankshaft positioning sensor (CSS) supplied for BMW 3 Series (E36) applications, designed to provide the engine management system with accurate crankshaft position data essential for ignition timing and fuel injection control. This sensor covers 58 BMW applications spanning the 1990 to 2004 model year range, making it a broadly applicable reference part for the E36 platform.
The CSS-080 is a direct-replacement crankshaft positioning sensor engineered to restore correct engine management signals where the original unit has failed or degraded. Crankshaft position sensors of this type are critical to engine operation - a faulty unit typically results in difficult starting, misfires, rough running, or a no-start condition, and replacement with a correctly matched sensor is the recommended remedy.
The CSS-080 carries an extensive set of OE cross-references, confirming alignment with parts catalogued by a wide range of established automotive suppliers. Cross-references include BMW OE numbers 1 703 277 and 12 14 1 703 277, as well as references from Hella (6PU 009 110-001), Meyle (314 899 0037), Metzger (0902004), Vemo (V20-72-0402), Fuel Parts (CS1020), SMPE (19168), Meat & Doria (87038), and others - 22 cross-references in total, including BBT CSS903, ERA 550210, Mapco 86220, Quinton Hazell XREV491, Siemens VDO S103557002Z, Topran 501441, and Trucktec Automotive 08.17.009.
