The PCL CO1B03 is a long-stem, closed-end connector with a female Rp 1/4 inlet thread, supplied in carton quantity and manufactured in Sheffield since 1938 as part of the HORNGROUP.
The closed-end design incorporates a non-return valve that unseats on connection to the tyre valve, allowing air to flow directly from a main airline — whether a compressor or air receiver — into the tyre. Handles on closed-end connectors are red in colour, providing a clear visual distinction from open-end variants in a busy workshop environment.
This connector is intended for direct-feed inflation from a main airline and is not for use with MK3 tyre inflators, PCL wall gauges, or PCL portable gauges — those applications require the open-end (black-handle) variant. The CO1B03 specifies a long-stem configuration, suitable where valve reach or twin-tyre geometry demands extended stem length.
Where the open-end variant is required instead, this is available with a female Rp 1/4 inlet and black-handle identification. Buyers should confirm closed or open end at the point of ordering, as the two types are not interchangeable in service.
