Replacing a worn or damaged handle is essential to maintaining the performance and safety of a ball or cross pein hammer. The Draper 31153 hickory hammer shaft provides a reliable replacement crafted from straight-grained hickory, a traditional hardwood chosen for its resilience and shock-absorbing properties. The shaft is sanded and waxed to a smooth finish, enhancing both comfort during use and the overall strength of the handle. This 400mm shaft is suitable for ball and cross pein hammers up to 900g (32oz) capacity and is supplied with a size No.1 wedge, ensuring the shaft can be correctly seated and secured within the hammerhead. With its combination of straight grain construction, prepared surface finish, and wedge inclusion, this replacement shaft offers a straightforward, practical solution for workshop and site use where hammer maintenance is a routine requirement.
