The grade depends on the type. Steel hexagon head screws and bolts, countersunk screws and carriage bolts are class 8.8. Button head screws are 10.9, socket cap screws include 12.9, and A2 stainless is class 70 or minimum 50.

The difference is the head shape, as the three share a hexagon socket drive. Socket cap screws have a cylindrical head to ISO 4762, countersunk screws follow ISO 10642, and button heads follow ISO 7380-1.
