Automatic strippers: a single squeeze grips the cable at one end and strips at the other in one motion — significantly faster, no gauge selection, but works only on standard insulation thicknesses (very thick or very thin insulation may not strip cleanly). For trade workshops doing high-volume wiring, automatic strippers save time; for occasional and specialist work, manual strippers are more flexible.

Two matches: (1) terminal type — ring, fork, push-on (spade), butt-splice, bullet, or specialist (uninsulated heat-shrink, military-spec, automotive open-barrel) — different terminals require different die profiles; (2) wire-gauge range — the crimper's die set must cover the wire gauges being used (typical workshop crimpers cover AWG 22-10 / 0.5-6mm²).
