The tool is intended for retaining the shock absorber strut during the assembly and disassembly phases of the rear shock absorber upper support, holding the piston strut in position while the operator loosens the fixing nut on the bearing. Once the nut is loose, the strut is free to be removed and serviced, and reassembly follows the reverse procedure with the tool again holding position during torque application.
