The Draper 60230 Smooth Cut Half Round File addresses this with a carbon chrome steel construction that is hardened and tempered for lasting cutting performance. A rust preventative finish is applied during manufacture, and each file is additionally dipped in rust preventative oil to guard against corrosion during storage and use. The half round profile provides two working surfaces in a single tool: the flat face handles flat workpieces and internal straight edges, while the curved face is suited to concave profiles, radiused recesses, and curved surfaces. The smooth cut grade removes fine amounts of material with each stroke, making it appropriate for finishing work and the careful refinement of dimensions where a coarser cut would risk over-removal. The file measures 300mm in length with a 6mm section size, placing it in a practical mid-range format for general hand filing tasks. Manufacture is in accordance with BS498, the British Standard for engineers' files, confirming that the file meets defined requirements for form, dimensions, and cut specification.
