The Draper 60219 Bastard Cut Half Round File, measuring 12 x 250mm, is manufactured from carbon chrome steel that has been hardened and tempered to deliver sustained cutting performance across both convex profiles and flat workpieces. The bastard cut grade sits between second cut and rough cut, making it well suited to general material removal where a moderate rate of stock reduction is required without excessive surface coarsening. To guard against deterioration in storage and during use, the file is given a rust preventative finish and dipped in rust preventative oil, protecting the cutting faces and tang from moisture ingress. Manufacture is in accordance with BS498, the British Standard for hand files, ensuring the profile, cut specification and dimensional tolerances meet recognised industry requirements. Supplied as a single file measuring 12 x 250mm, the half round cross-section gives the user flexibility to work internal curves and radii on one side while using the flat face for straight or convex surfaces.
