By capacity and by beam flange width together. A clamp that will not close properly on the flange is not holding at its rated capacity, and flange width on a building is not a standard figure.

1, 2, 3 and 5 tonne. The load has to sit inside the rating with margin for the dynamic effect as it swings or is set down, rather than at the figure exactly.

Yes, and it is a separate question from the clamp. The beam has to be capable of carrying the load at the point where the clamp is fitted, which is a structural question rather than a tool one.

Holding work rather than lifting it. Ratchet bar clamps at 150mm and 300mm apply and hold pressure with one hand, and a quick bar clamp and spreader also pushes apart rather than only pulling together.

A claw wheel clamp with lock and key, a wheel clamp covering 450 to 640mm for tyres up to 225mm width, and a steering wheel lock adjusting 180 to 365mm.

A parking barrier with a triple leg and integral lock at 980mm wide holds a bay or an entrance, which is a different problem from securing a single vehicle.

A beam clamp is rated for a load and sized to the beam flange it grips, and both have to be checked before anything is hung from it. A clamp that will not close properly on the flange is not holding at its rated capacity whatever the label says, and the flange width on a building is not a standard figure. Neither figure can be assumed from the appearance of the beam or the size of the clamp.

Capacity runs 1, 2, 3 and 5 tonne across the range here, and the load being lifted has to sit inside that with margin for any dynamic effect as it swings or is set down. The beam itself also has to be capable of the load, which is a separate question from the clamp.

Bar clamps on this leaf do a different job entirely, holding work rather than lifting it. Ratchet bar clamps at 150mm and 300mm apply and hold pressure with one hand, and a quick bar clamp and spreader reverses to push apart as well as pull together. Sealey hold ratchet bar clamp sets in fours at both lengths for holding several joints at once.

Vehicle security is also seated here, with a claw wheel clamp and a wheel clamp covering 450 to 640mm for tyres up to 225mm width, a steering wheel lock adjusting 180 to 365mm and a triple leg parking barrier at 980mm wide with an integral lock. Questions go over WhatsApp on 07754288583.
