The Draper Expert Solid Forged Claw Hammer addresses this by machining both head and shaft from a single piece of fine grain high carbon steel, eliminating any join between the two components. The steel is correctly hardened and tempered throughout, then given a fully polished finish and a lacquer coating to provide rust protection during storage and use. At 450 g (16 oz), the hammer offers a balance suited to general carpentry, joinery, and workshop tasks where controlled driving force and claw extraction are required. A double injection PP/TPR grip is fitted to the shaft, combining a polypropylene core with a thermoplastic rubber overmould. This construction is designed to absorb shock and reduce transmitted vibration to the user's hand during repeated striking. The hammer is sold loose.
