FAQs

A direct-fire heater burns the propane in the heated air stream — combustion gases (CO2, water vapour, traces of CO and NOx) enter the workshop or space being heated. Used for well-ventilated and outdoor spaces. An indirect-fire heater has a separate combustion chamber with a flue — the heated air stream is warmed by passing over the chamber walls but doesn't contact the combustion gases. Used for closed and semi-closed spaces where exhaust must be vented outside.

As a guide, allow 1 kW of heat output per 25-30 cubic metres of well-insulated space, or 1 kW per 15-20 cubic metres of poorly-insulated space (open buildings, agricultural sheds). For a typical 200m² workshop with 4-metre ceiling height (800m³), a 25-35 kW heater is appropriate for moderate insulation. Outputs are listed on product pages; for fast warm-up vs slow maintain, oversize by 20-30%.

Run-time depends on the heater's gas consumption rate. A 17kW indirect-fire heater consumes roughly 1.2-1.4 kg/h of propane at full output — a 19kg bottle gives about 14-16 hours run-time at full output, longer with thermostat cycling. A 30kW heater consumes 2.0-2.4 kg/h — a 19kg bottle runs 8-10 hours at full output. The gas consumption rate is listed on product pages; size bottle changes around expected duty cycles.

Yes. Replacement burner assemblies, thermocouples, gas valves, ignition modules, fan motors, and air-pressure switches are available for the majority of SIP, Sealey, Clarke, and Rhino propane heaters. Search by the heater model code stamped on the unit. If the model isn't listed, WhatsApp 07754288583 with the model code and a photograph and we will confirm parts availability.

Returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase, in original packaging, on orders delivered within the United Kingdom. For damaged-on-arrival items, report within 24 hours with photographs to [email protected] — we will typically arrange collection and replacement at no cost to you. Within Heating, Propane Heater covers the propane-gas-fired space heaters used to heat workshops, warehouses, agricultural buildings, and outdoor work areas. Propane heaters provide high-output heat from bottled gas — the standard for unheated workshop bays, temporary site-heating, and agricultural-shed heating where mains gas isn't available. Parts For Machines supplies propane space heaters across the trade and professional output ranges. Direct-fire heaters (no flue, exhaust gases vented into the heated space) are used for ventilated workshops and outdoor spaces — outputs typically 10-30 kW. Indirect-fire heaters (flued, with separate combustion-chamber and heated-air streams) are used for closed and semi-closed spaces where exhaust gases must be vented outside — outputs typically 17-50 kW. Parts For Machines is an Authorised Distributor and Seller of SIP, Sealey, Clarke, and Rhino across the propane-heater range. SIP and Sealey lead the line, with Sealey covering the workshop-bay output sizes and SIP covering both portable and larger industrial-output units. Clarke and Rhino extend the range with industrial workshop and agricultural heaters. Product pages list rated heat output (in kW or BTU/h), gas consumption (in kg/h or litres/h), tank size or supply requirement (typical propane bottles are 13kg, 19kg, 47kg), ignition type (piezo, electronic, manual), thermostat (built-in room thermostat or external probe), and weight. Most professional propane heaters include flame-failure cut-off and tilt-switch safety devices. Never run a direct-fire propane heater in a sealed space. Trade pricing on multi-unit and fleet orders is available; contact the team via WhatsApp 07754288583.
