FAQs

They steer the chain true past the rollers and absorb the side loads that slewing and side-hill work push into the track — sacrificial steel that takes the contact which would otherwise gouge roller flanges, links and frame. A machine running without or with bent guides derails more and wears its undercarriage unevenly.

Look: bent or twisted sections, heavy gouging at the contact faces, missing segments, and loose or sheared bolts — vibration loosening is the classic start of the failure. If the chain has begun marking the frame or roller flanges, the guides stopped doing their job some time ago.

Where the manufacturer offers heavier or full-length guard options, yes — demolition, forestry and side-slope work feed exactly the side loads guides exist to absorb, and the heavier guard costs far less than the roller and frame wear it prevents. The machine model and serial confirm which options fit.

Machine make, model and serial — guides are machine-specific and position-specific, with centre and end sections differing on many frames. Photos of the existing guides and their bolt patterns help where previous owners have mixed parts. Send the details via WhatsApp or Ask Simon for confirmation before ordering.

Returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase, in original packaging, on orders delivered within the United Kingdom. For damaged-on-arrival items, report within 24 hours with photographs to [email protected] — we will typically arrange collection and replacement at no cost to you. Track guides, the guards and guides bolted along the track frame, keep the chain running true: steering the links past the rollers, resisting the side loads that slewing and side-hill work feed into the undercarriage, and stopping the derailments that cost half a day to fix. PartsForMachines supplies track guides and guards matched by machine make and model, with rollers, idlers, sprockets and adjusters in the same Under Carriage section.

Guides sell by machine fitment and position, full-length guards, segment guides and the centre and end sections that machines combine, with each product page listing the fitment, dimensions and bolt pattern. The wear logic is sacrificial: guides take the contact that would otherwise gouge roller flanges and frame, so worn, bent or torn-off guides are doing their job badly and passing the damage on. Machines that slew hard on rough ground, demolition, forestry, side-slope agricultural work, wear guides fastest and benefit most from the heavier guard options where the maker offers them. Compare lines up options, and Ask Simon confirms fitment from the machine model and serial.

The inspection is visual and quick: straightness, security of bolts, the classic failure being guides loosened by vibration and then destroyed, and wear at the contact faces. Guides belong on the same renewal as chain and roller work, since fresh running gear behind bent guides wears unevenly from the first hour.

For fitment confirmation and availability, send the machine make, model and serial via WhatsApp 07754288583.
