FAQs

Pre-puncture preventative sealant: added to undamaged tyres at fitting time, sits inside the tyre and remains liquid; when a puncture occurs, the escaping air pulls sealant to the puncture site where it cures and seals. The tyre stays inflated with no driver action. Best for fleet vehicles, agricultural and contractor work, and any application where unscheduled tyre downtime is costly. Post-puncture emergency: used after a puncture has occurred — injected through the tyre valve, the sealant rotates to the puncture site as the vehicle drives. Limp-home solution. Best for emergency tyre-failure response.

Most car/van tyre sealants are designed to seal tread-area punctures (the contact-patch area where most punctures occur from nails, screws, and small debris). Sidewall punctures are more difficult — the sidewall flexes during rotation, opening and closing the puncture, and the rotational velocity is lower at the sidewall (less centrifugal force pushing sealant into the puncture). Some specialist sealants are rated for sidewall punctures up to a maximum size; most general car/van sealants are tread-only rated. For sidewall punctures, professional tyre repair is the practical option. The puncture-area rating is on every product page.

Quality car/van tyre sealants are formulated to be compatible with TPMS sensors — the chemistry doesn't corrode the sensor's metal parts or interfere with the sensor's pressure-reading function. Lower-quality or industrial-grade sealants may damage TPMS sensors over time, requiring sensor replacement (typical £50-200 per sensor depending on vehicle). For TPMS-equipped vehicles, always specify a TPMS-compatible sealant — the compatibility is on every product page. Industrial-grade sealants are sometimes used in non-TPMS commercial vehicles where the saving justifies the chemistry.

Car/van sealants are formulated for the load and speed range of car and light-van tyres (typically up to 800-1,000kg per tyre, road speeds up to 200 km/h). Commercial-vehicle tyres (HGV, plant, agricultural) operate at much higher loads (1,500-3,500kg+ per tyre) and different speed ranges — they need specific HGV/plant/agricultural sealants formulated for those conditions. Using car sealant in HGV tyres may give reduced sealing effectiveness and shorter sealant life. Always match the sealant formulation to the vehicle category.

Every product is backed by our Fit Guarantee. If a part is incompatible with your machine, you can return it hassle-free. For damaged-on-arrival items, report within 24 hours with photographs to [email protected] — we will arrange collection. For other returns, email us first to obtain a Return Merchandise Number before sending. Returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase, in original packaging, on UK orders. A restocking fee may apply on returns where the buyer has changed their mind. Refunds are issued to the original payment method once the return is inspected.

Delivery time depends on the product, your destination, and availability — the estimated time for any item appears on the product page, and "Check where we deliver" confirms coverage for your postcode before you order. Next-day delivery is available on most products; the option appears at checkout when applicable. We deliver across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Within Tyre Sealant, Car/Van covers the tyre sealants formulated for car, light-van, and light-commercial-vehicle tyre applications — covering pre-puncture preventative sealants (added to undamaged tyres to seal punctures as they occur, before the tyre loses pressure), post-puncture emergency repair sealants (used to seal an existing puncture for limp-home travel), and tubeless-tyre rim-sealing compounds for vehicles converted to tubeless.

Parts for Machines supplies car/van tyre sealant across the trade and consumer ranges. Sealants for these applications are formulated for typical car and light-van tyre operating conditions — the higher rotational speeds of road use, the wider temperature range of unheated tyres in winter and summer, and the typical tubeless-tyre construction.

We are an authorised distributor and seller of OKO and Air-Seal across the car/van tyre sealant range. OKO covers the broadest selection — OKO car/van formulations for pre-puncture protection and post-puncture emergency repair, in 250ml-1-litre individual-vehicle-tyre containers and 5-litre and 25-litre bulk containers for multi-vehicle service. Air-Seal extends the range with specific car/van formulations.

Product pages list the sealant formulation (pre-puncture preventative; post-puncture emergency; tubeless-rim sealant), the maximum puncture size the sealant can seal (typical 3-8mm for car/van applications), the operating temperature range, the maximum vehicle speed rating (some sealants are speed-rated up to 100 km/h for emergency-repair use; preventative sealants typically rated for normal road speeds), the container size, the recommended dose per tyre size (typical 200-400ml for car tyres; 350-500ml for van tyres), and any specific compatibility notes. When fitting tyre sealant on a TPMS-equipped vehicle, always check the sealant product page for explicit TPMS-compatibility confirmation before specifying. Trade pricing on bulk and fleet orders is available; contact the team via WhatsApp 07754288583.
