The MAF-081 is a Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) designed to replace the original air mass measurement unit on a range of BMW and Alpina V8 petrol-engined vehicles. Covering 18 applications across three vehicle makes - BMW, Alpina and Land Rover - this sensor is a direct-fit replacement suited to high-capacity V8 engines in models spanning the 1996 to 2005 production period.
The MAF-081 is supplied as a standalone replacement sensor, ready to restore accurate air mass data to the engine management system. Correct air mass measurement is fundamental to fuel metering and combustion efficiency; a faulty or degraded sensor is a common cause of rough running, poor economy, and fault codes on affected platforms.
Compatible applications include the Alpina Roadster (Z8) 4.8 V8 (06/2002-10/2003), the BMW 5 Series (E39) 540i in M62448S2, M62B44, and 448S1 engine variants (from April 1996 to 06/2003), and the BMW 5 Touring (E39) 540i M62448S2 (from January 1997 to 05/2004), among others in the full 18-application fitment list.
