FAQs

Flood beams spread light wide for close-up area illumination — best for working around the equipment, in yards, and on construction sites where you need to see the immediate working area clearly. Spot beams focus the light into a narrower long-distance pattern — best for road-haul and field-work where distance visibility matters. Combo beams have flood and spot LEDs in the same bar — most versatile for mixed work, but with a slight trade-off in pure flood or pure spot performance versus dedicated bars.

Lumens scale with working-area size. For tractor cab roof lights and forecourt yard work, 5,000-10,000 lumens covers most needs. For excavator and large plant where the working area extends 10-30m from the cab, 15,000-30,000 lumens is the typical range. For recovery and high-output applications, 50,000+ lumen lightbars are available. Lumens output is listed on every lightbar product page.

Most modern LED lightbars accept both 12V and 24V via dual-voltage circuits — covering cars, light commercials, plant, agricultural tractors, and HGVs from a single unit. Older or specialist bars may be 12V-only or 24V-only — check the voltage rating on the product page. Connecting a 12V-only bar to a 24V system damages the LED driver immediately; the dual-voltage label confirms safe cross-system fitment.

ECE-R65 approval is required for warning lightbars fitted to vehicles operating on the public highway (recovery, gritter, agricultural in-motion warning). Look for the ECE-R65 marking and the type-approval reference on the product page or product label. Non-approved bars are sold for off-highway, yard, and private-site use only — using a non-approved bar on the public highway is an offence. The product page lists approval status for every warning lightbar.

Returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase, in original packaging, on orders delivered within the United Kingdom. Lightbars & Minibars

Within Beacon & Lightbar & Workshop Lighting, Lightbar covers the elongated multi-LED light units fitted to plant equipment, agricultural tractors, telehandlers, commercial vehicles, and recovery vehicles — providing high-intensity work lighting and warning illumination across a wide spread. Lightbars are typically roof-mounted, bull-bar mounted, or fitted on light-cab brackets. Lightbars come in two main classes. Work lightbars produce a flood or combination flood-and-spot beam pattern aimed at illuminating the working area around the equipment — used on construction sites, agricultural fields, and forecourt yards. Warning lightbars produce flashing amber or red emergency lighting and are fitted to recovery vehicles, gritters, agricultural plant moving on the highway, and yard equipment requiring high-visibility marking. Parts For Machines supplies LED lightbars across plant, tractor, and commercial-vehicle applications. Parts For Machines is an Authorised Distributor and Seller of Sealey across the workshop and warning lightbar range. Specialist lighting brands extend the line for OEM-pattern fitments and high-output applications. Product pages list the lighting type (work flood, work spot, combo, or warning flash pattern), bar length and form factor (typical lengths from 250mm up to 1.5 metres), LED count and rated lumens output, voltage compatibility (12V or 24V, with most modern bars accepting both via dual-voltage circuits), beam pattern, IP rating (typically IP67 minimum for outdoor and washdown environments), and mounting options (roof bracket, suction-cup, magnetic-base, or fixed-bolt). Match a replacement by mounting pattern (existing bracket and bolt-hole spacing) and voltage. For new fitment, match output (lumens) to working-area size and beam pattern to the work type — flood for close-up area lighting, spot for distance, combo for general-purpose work. Most lightbars are sold with the wiring loom and switch hardware needed for installation. For ECE-approved warning lightbars (required for highway-use vehicles and recovery), check the approval marking on the product page.
